Denny Sanford, a two-campus Sanford Childrens Health Research Center has been established, with one site at Sanford Research in Sioux Falls and the other at the Burnham Institute for Medical Research in La Jolla, CA. Founded as a non-profit medical research institute dedicated to cancer research, the Burnham Institute for Medical Research has grown to a 780 person effort, with an annual operating budget of $113 million, focusing on a host of medical conditions. A dedicated focus on childrens health allows for consolidation of existing research programs involving childrens health and development and growth of new childrens research programs at the Burnham. We believe that this synergy will lead to development of a major international center for discovery and education in childrens health in a matter of years. Scientists, graduate students and postdoctoral trainees will be able use the capabilities of both sites for research endeavors. The Burnham Institute for Medical Research |
